The species of fish that feed in the waters of Long Island Sound are some of the hardest fighting fish in saltwater. These fish include Striped Bass, Bluefish, Weakfish, False Albacore, Bonito, Spanish Macheral and in some years Schoolie Bluefin Tuna. Striped bass is one of the most saut after game fish on the east coast. These fish migrate into our area in April and leave in November, with the exception of the some hold over fish that stay in the local rivers during the winter months. The summer months being the most productive for trophy stripers. These fish reach weights over 50 lbs. Bluefish show up in the middle - to end of May and run into November. Weakfish have a short run through May and into June, with the bigger fish here in June. All the tuna and tuna like species show up at the end of July and run into November, with September being the best month for large schools of False Albacore. Catching all these fish are fun and very challenging.
Saltwater fly fishing is my passion. Come and experiance some of Connecticuts best saltwter fly fishing. From early April until mid June, the Ct River gives many fish in the 10 to 20 lb class, with a couple of 20+ lber’s every year. The rock piles that fill Fishers Island Sound is a great place to escape the crowds, and catch big bass. Come sight fish the flats, use crab patterns to fool striped bass in 1 tp 3 feet of water. In the fall, false albacore, bonito, bluefish and striped bass all run the many rips found in and around Ct. We offer trips for all levels of fly fishing, from beginner to expert. |
